The Biscuits Have Landed: Flying Biscuit Opens in Kissimmee Oct. 26

Good news for Central Florida mornings. The Flying Biscuit Café opens its first Orlando-area café on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, in Kissimmee.

You’ll find it at 6079 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, right on US-192 near Celebration. That’s a few miles from Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. Franchise partners John and Gisela Terranova own and run it.

It’s the only Flying Biscuit in the Orlando area. Until now, the closest ones were in The Villages and Gainesville. Starting Oct. 26, it’s a much shorter drive to shrimp and grits.

Meet John and Gisela Terranova

John Terranova has worked just about every job in a restaurant. He started as a cook, then joined the opening crew for a national chain and helped open 17 restaurants in two years. After that came decades as a kitchen manager and general manager across several brands.

That’s more than 30 years running restaurants for other people. Kissimmee is the first one John and franchise partner Gisela Terranova get to call their own.

They didn’t rush it. The pair spent more than a year looking at franchise concepts before choosing Flying Biscuit. What tipped the scales?

“I looked at a lot of concepts before this one, and the food is what settled it,” John said.

They had a local assist, too. Chris Taddei, co-founder of The List Orlando, represented the Terranovas in the lease deal.

Why Kissimmee and US-192

US-192 (West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, if you’re typing it into your GPS) is one of the busiest roads in Central Florida. Travelers hit it early on the way to the parks. The neighborhoods around Kissimmee and Celebration keep it busy the rest of the morning.

The Terranovas picked the spot for exactly that mix.

“We’re a few miles from Disney and Universal on a road that never stops moving, so we’ll be feeding travelers and neighbors in the same morning,” John said. “I can’t wait to get our biscuits and grits in front of this community.”

Fueling up for a full day of rides? Grabbing breakfast after school drop-off? There’s a seat for you either way. Come as you are — even that version.

What to order

Breakfast runs all day, right alongside lunch. Think stuffed French toast, shrimp and grits, omelets, vegan scrambles, burgers and wraps.

The biscuits are why it’s called Flying Biscuit. The shrimp and grits are why you’ll be back on Thursday.

Feeding a crowd? The Kissimmee café handles full-service catering, plus carry-out and delivery.

Now hiring in Kissimmee

John and Gisela have hired 23 people so far, and they’re still building the opening team. If you like people and don’t mind an early alarm, this is your crew. Breakfast-and-lunch hours mean no late nights.

Café No. 45, with more on the way

Flying Biscuit got its start in Atlanta’s Candler Park neighborhood in 1993. When Kissimmee opens, it becomes café No. 45. Eleven more are in development across eight states: Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Texas and Missouri.

Andrew Scherzer, partner and director of franchise development at Flying Biscuit Franchising, says Orlando has been on the wish list for years.

“John and Gisela are the kind of operators you hope get there first,” he said. “Florida is a big part of where this brand is headed, and we could not ask for a better start in Orlando.”
