Central Florida, we’re on our way.
John and Gisela Terranova have signed the lease on the first Flying Biscuit Café in the Greater Orlando market — 6079 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy in Kissimmee, right on US-192. Doors are scheduled to open in September 2026.
If you know that stretch of road, you know it never really sleeps. The café sits a few miles from Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, just up the way from Celebration. Which means on any given morning, John and Gisela will be feeding a family in matching park shirts at one table and the neighbor who lives three streets over at the next. That’s a pretty good morning.
And here’s the part Orlando locals will appreciate: this will be the only Flying Biscuit in the area. Until now, the closest cafés have been in The Villages and Gainesville — a long drive for shrimp and grits, even really good shrimp and grits.

Three decades of kitchens led here
John didn’t wander into this. He started out as a cook, landed on the opening crew for a national chain, and helped open 17 restaurants in two years — which is the kind of stretch that either ends a restaurant career or makes it. His did the second thing. From there came decades of kitchen manager and general manager roles across a number of brands.
So when he and Gisela started looking at franchise concepts, they took their time. More than a year of it. They ate, they asked questions, they compared.
“This site checked every box for us. We’re a few miles from Disney and Universal on a road that never stops moving, so we’ll be feeding travelers and neighbors in the same morning — and right now we’re the only Biscuit around. I spent a long time looking for the right brand, and the food is what settled it. I can’t wait to get our biscuits and grits in front of this community,” said John Terranova, franchise partner, The Flying Biscuit Café – Kissimmee.
A year of research, and the tiebreaker was the biscuits. We’ll take it.
The Terranovas were represented in the transaction by Chris Taddei, co-founder of The List Orlando.
What to expect when the doors open
Flying Biscuit started in Atlanta’s Candler Park neighborhood in 1993 and has spent thirty-plus years doing one thing: all-day breakfast that doesn’t hold back. Stuffed French toast. Shrimp and grits. Omelets, vegan scrambles, burgers, wraps. Biscuits with cranberry apple butter, which is the kind of thing you order out of curiosity and then think about on the drive home.
There are 43 cafés open today and 11 more in development across Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and Texas. Kissimmee is next.
Menu and opening updates will land at flyingbiscuit.com.
